Alec Schantz is a composer, educator, and performer from Northern California whose music has been praised as alluring, captivating, and evocative. Alec is graduate of San José State University (B.M., Music Education), where they studied clarinet with Dr. Janet Averett and Jonathan Szin. Alec then went on to earn a Master of Music in Composition from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas under the guidance of Dr. Viet Cuong. They currently serve as Director of Bands at Hillview Junior High School in Pittsburg California.

Specializing in works for wind band, Alec has been commissioned by ensembles nationwide, with performances spanning middle school, high school, university, honor, and military groups. Their music which has been celebrated for its vivid sonorities and expressive depth has been performed at Carnegie Hall and recognized in multiple composition competitions, establishing them as an emerging voice in the contemporary wind band community.
